Today: Hans Johnson speaks on college access for low-income students

Join UCOP’s Department of Institutional Research and Academic Planning (IRAP) for the next event in the IRAP Speaker Series when Hans Johnson of the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) speaks today, 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in 5320 Franklin. A PPIC senior fellow and Bren fellow, Johnson will present the findings of his report, Making College Possible for Low-Income Students, which examines the role of grant and scholarship aid in California to help students access and complete college.

Johnson specializes in the dynamics of population change in California and policy implications of this changing demography, with a focus on higher education. At PPIC, his research has focused on education projections and workforce skills, population projections, international and domestic migration and housing. He previously held positions at the California Research Bureau and the California Department of Finance and holds a Ph.D. in demography from UC Berkeley.
