Stigma-Free UC: The Effects of Stigma on Public Health
Please join us on Tuesday, June 19, for our fifth Stigma-Free UC webinar, featuring Bruce Link, UC Riverside distinguished professor of Public Policy and Sociology. Link will discuss how people with mental illnesses are harmed by the social stigma they experience — and what we can do to reduce that stigma.
In addition to his research on the consequences of mental illness stigma, Link is working to understand health disparities by race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status and the connection between mental illnesses and violent behaviors. Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology and Sociomedical Sciences at the Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University, Link is the recipient of the Leonard Pearlin Award for career achievement from the Mental Health Section of the American Sociological Association.
All UC faculty, staff and students are invited to attend this webinar, sponsored by the Systemwide WellBeing Initiative, on Tuesday, June 19, from 1 to 2 p.m. To view the webinar online, go to UCOP.zoom.us/j/5109879443. To join by phone, dial 408-638-0968; Meeting ID: 510 987 9443.
