Building access during today’s Warriors victory parade
To celebrate another NBA championship win, the city of Oakland is hosting a victory parade for the Golden State Warriors today, Tuesday, June 12. The event will significantly impact UCOP staff who work in downtown Oakland due to extensive street closures, increased use of public transit and the large number of pedestrians in the area.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway and 11th Street, and will end at Oak and 13th streets. Many streets near UCOP offices will be closed through the evening.
Details about street closures as well as the parade route and mass transit options are available on the city’s parade website.
Oakland buildings
Franklin: We expect to offer normal access to the Franklin building and parking garage on Tuesday, but you will need to let the police posted at 12th St. and Franklin know that you are a UCOP employee entering the garage in order to be let through the barricade. Access to the parking garage will become increasingly restricted by the Oakland Police on duty as the starting time of the parade approaches. To exit the garage during the street closure, you will need to turn right on Franklin St., which the police will allow. We will advise you if the situation changes and the garage needs to be closed. Due to street closures, we expect delays with mail and package deliveries.
Note: If you plan to watch the start of the parade from the 5th floor patio of the Franklin building, please be mindful of your and everyone’s safety and follow all safety instructions.
1100 Broadway: There will be no access to the building garage or super dock through 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12. The City Center Garage WEST will be open all day Tuesday but is available on a first-come first-served basis. The building will be accessible by badge only on Tuesday. Since the building will be closed to the public, tenants are advised to retrieve their visitors from the lobby.
Kaiser Center: The Kaiser Center and Kaiser Garage will operate on regular schedules, but as always, schedules are subject to change at the direction of the Kaiser Center Security Director. Due to road closures, it will be difficult to access the Kaiser Garage, so public transportation is encouraged. The Kaiser Building will be open at the inner drive, the west entrance, and the 2nd Floor pedestrian bridge from the Garage. The Kaiser Mall will be accessible only with a building access badge; the Roof Garden will be closed.
