Barack Obama and local celebs to host youth conference in Oakland
Oakland staff take note: Former president Barack Obama recently announced that MBK Rising! the first national convention for his nonprofit organization, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (MBK Alliance), will take place in downtown Oakland from Feb. 19-20, 2019.
Co-chaired by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and San Francisco Mayor London Breed, MBK Rising! will reflect on the organization’s efforts and progress in supporting boys and young men of color.
The event will take place at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center on Lakeside Drive. The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Feb. 19: 3-4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Feb. 20: 9:30-11 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m.
UCOP employees based in Oakland (both Kaiser and Franklin) should allow additional commute time to and from work. At this time, we expect to offer UCOP staff normal access to our Oakland buildings and garages on Tuesday. If that changes, we will notify all staff via email.
Please monitor local news for updates, and we will pass along any additional information as we receive it.
