 In about 30 words, what does your team do?

We administer UCOP’s pay program and provide guidance by working closely with functional area partners and business organizations. We ensure fairness and compliance to mitigate risks.

What services does your team provide?

If a third grader asks us what we do for a living, the simplest answer is: We tell people how much they should get paid. Our services include:

  • Pay consultation: We provide guidance on salary offers and pay actions (promotions, equity, reclassifications, etc.).
  • Job review: We evaluate and classify current and new jobs.
  • Training and education: We provide learning opportunities for new hires, managers and employees on pay programs, processes and practices.
  • Audit: We review employee data and salaries for compliance.
  • Networking: We coordinate with compensation peers within the UC campuses and medical centers, as well as compensation professionals in related industries.

What’s one thing you’d like your colleagues at UCOP to know about your team?

Compensation is not just about processing salary increases and reviewing job descriptions. We can also offer valuable guidance on a range of topics related to compensation best practices.

In about 30 words, what does your team do?

Throughout the entire lifecycle of an employee’s time at UCOP, from new hire to promotion to retirement, the Payroll team does everything it can to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

What services does your team provide?

  • On-cycle payroll: We reconcile timesheets and generate and approve transactions for regular earnings or final pay.
  • Off-cycle payroll: We process escalated pay requests.
  • Salary changes and accounting support: We process stipends and salary changes due to pay actions, and process retroactive payments.
  • Onboarding: We generate offer letters, establish preliminary system credentials, order equipment and prepare new hires for their first few days on the job.
  • Separations: We process employment changes and final accrual payouts for former colleagues and retirees.
