UC MSAP invests today in the leaders of tomorrow
If you’re a high-potential supervisor, manager or professional in the early part of your career, consider applying for UC’s Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP). Unlike professional development programs that focus on nuts-and-bolts skill-building techniques, MSAP provides personal feedback and insight — helping you build a career development plan based on your unique skillsets.
If accepted to the program, you’ll convene with fellow participants at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center, where you’ll take part in a three-day assessment program. You will complete a series of structured exercises and simulations, which will reveal your strengths and development areas to trained assessors who are there to evaluate you and offer feedback.
Following the Lake Arrowhead retreat, you’ll return to UCOP, where your sponsoring manager will create a personalized career development plan based on the strategy that you have identified through the results of your assessment. As your career progresses, you will continue to refine this plan in partnership with your supervisor and mentors.
Not convinced yet? Consider the following:
- 27% of participants move into a higher-level job classification within 18-24 months of participating in MSAP
- 87% of participants feel more confident in their managerial abilities as the result of MSAP
- 81% believe that their managerial performance improves after attending
One past participant described MSAP as “a life-changing experience… the best program I’ve participated in as a UC staff member.”
How to apply
Prospective participants must complete an online application, which requires information regarding education, employment history and a self-statement. Your supervisor is required to complete a supporting statement before your application can be submitted.
