UCOP Chef Throwdown: Friday, Dec. 6

This year we are happy to bring back the UCOP Chef Throwdown, a friendly competition we began last year. The Throwdown will take place on Friday, Dec. 6 and winners will be announced by President Napolitano at the End-of-Year Celebration on Monday, Dec. 9. Winners will be determined by special UCOP judging panels and will receive a picture taken with President Napolitano that will be featured in Link, plus a UCOP logo apron and bragging rights for at least a year.

Last year’s winning chefs are sure to try to defend their titles, but we hope the UCOP community will bring them some serious competition! Look for a separate announcement soon for rules of entry and a request for volunteer judges and tasters.

UCOP End-of-Year Celebration in Oakland

The UCOP End-of-Year Celebration in Oakland has been scheduled as follows:

• Date: Monday, Dec. 9
• Time: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
• Location: Franklin building (locations TBA)

We hope all Oakland-based staff will join us for our annual celebration. As in years past, this event is funded entirely from generous personal donations by UCOP leaders and managers.

All-staff events are a great time to mingle with colleagues and UCOP senior leadership. A delicious afternoon menu is being planned and will be provided at several locations in the Franklin building.

Hardhat tours of 1100 Broadway will be available for groups of up to 10 for those who want a special preview before it opens in 2020. Tours will depart from the Franklin building lobby.

In the spirit of gratitude, UCOP affinity groups are also engaging with staff to support our community through donation drives and service opportunities. Many of these will extend throughout the months of November and December.

Next all-staff appreciation event will take place in July

We are pleased to announce the triumphant return of the UCOP Talent Show and Service Appreciation Event on July 23, 2020.
