Keep celebrating Earth Month with these easy sustainability tips
Thank you for recognizing Earth Month with your colleagues and the UCOP sustainability team! While our celebrations looked a little different this year, it has been wonderful to connect with like-minded UCOP colleagues around our shared interest in environmental well-being.
Last Friday, several of us gathered on Zoom to discuss the impactful documentary film “Tomorrow.” Kid-friendly for ages 10+, this fast-paced documentary profiles people with concrete solutions for moving away from fossil fuels and protecting the environment. You can watch the film free online here. Here are some tips to be more sustainable in your life and your community from the film.
- Eat organic produce and less meat. Industrial agriculture and livestock farming produce significant greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. This is a simple way to reduce your carbon footprint and support healthy ecological systems.
- Choose a renewable electricity supplier. Oil, gas and coal contribute actively to climate change. Check out your local electricity supplier like East Bay Clean Energy or explore solar installations for your home.
- Reduce, reuse, recycle, repair and share. Reducing waste and consumption of resources reduces your overall environmental impact.
