President Napolitano emphasizes community and gratitude at her farewell UCOP Town Hall

On Monday, June 29, President Napolitano held her final Town Hall with UCOP employees.

The president opened the meeting by commenting on the unprecedented times 2020 has brought — despite the continued destructive impact of COVID-19, we have marked many positive advancements, including renewed efforts to dismantle systematic racism and inequity in our country, UC’s Supreme Court win in support of undocumented immigrants and the repeal of race- and gender-blind admissions.

President Napolitano thanked staff for their continued support, dedication and partnership over the entirety of her career as president of the university, and shared personal insights about her experience.

She also shared updates on initiatives to promote racial equality at UCOP, including a new Anti-Racism Task Force before turning to staff questions.
