New workshop: Learn to frame conversations about race at work

UCOP’s popular Continuing the Conversation on Race series continues this week with a new session: Framing Conversations About Race at Work.
This live online workshop will take place on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 10-11:30 a.m. An interactive discussion will cover the following topics:
- How can we acknowledge the impact of our lived experiences on how we talk about race at work? What helps? What creates more obstacles?
- What awareness, knowledge and skills are helpful for creating conversations that are bold, authentic and growth-oriented?
- How can leaders determine which approaches to talking about race and racism will best serve their team?
Lisa D. Walker, M.A., a senior consultant with the Equity Consulting Group and former director of equity and inclusion at UC Berkeley, will lead the workshop. Walker has more than 20 years’ experience engaging groups in effective dialogue and training. Her expertise includes cultural fluency, implicit bias, equity, diversity and inclusion, team building and conflict and communication models.

Hi Ginny — Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention! I just checked in with our colleagues in Learning and Development. The course is not full (there are unlimited openings for UCOP staff), but there seems to be a technical issue with the registration site. They are working to resolve it, but in the meantime, you can email ucopld@ucop.edu to request registration. To answer your other question, the courses will be recorded. They will be available through the Learning Center once the video preparation is complete.
