Meet Partha

Name: Partha Chakraborty

Title: Applications Programmer 3

Department/Unit: ITS

Location: Currently my living room in downtown Oakland; the new Broadway building once we are back on-site

When you started working at UCOP: August 2007

What you do at UCOP in 5 words or less: Develop and maintain financial applications

The best part about working for OP: Being a part of the best public university system in the known universe

Something your colleagues don’t know about you: A longtime resident of Oakland, I love the incredible diversity, history and beauty of our town, which combines vibrant urban living with pockets of unexpected natural beauty. I particularly enjoy the amazing range of magnificent street art to be found all over Oakland, and document many of my favorites on my Instagram account, @pratidwandi.

One weird fact about the town you grew up in: I grew up in three different towns, so I will pick my birthplace and a fact that is more interesting than weird. Calcutta, India (or Kolkata, as it is known now), is home to the world’s largest non-trade book fair, the most attended in the world, with over 2.5 million attendees. It is the world’s third-largest annual conglomeration of books, after the Frankfurt Book Fair and London Book Fair.

If you could have any job in the world (besides the one you have now), it would be: Working with and for underprivileged, first-generation, college-bound high-school students
