Learn to protect yourself with safety courses from UCOP
Unfortunately, we hear every day about situations where unstable people or those with bad intentions impact the safety of those around them. The best way to protect yourself during an emergency is to gain a basic understanding of personal safety so that you’ll be prepared to act if the need arises.
Sign up today for Basic Safety Awareness, a course offered through UCOP Learning and Development to help you feel informed, alert and safe as you travel to and from the workplace and in many other situations. Basic Safety Awareness is led by Melissa Collins, program manager for security, risk and resilience. A safety expert, Melissa recently joined UCOP after serving 20 years with the UC San Diego Police Department.
Melissa will teach you how to:
- Be alert and aware in all situations
- Be prepared to contact and assist police, if needed
- Who to contact for help in an emergency situation
She’ll also help answer any questions you may have about personal safety.
Register online here to attend this helpful course, taking place Feb. 23, 1:15 – 2 p.m. (PT).
