Action required: New Abusive Conduct in the Workplace training
The following message was sent to all UCOP staff by UCOP Human Resources Executive Director Nancy Pluzdrak on March 20, 2023:
Dear colleagues,
A new UC Presidential policy, Abusive Conduct in the Workplace, was issued effective Jan. 1, 2023. The policy was developed at President Drake’s request with support from the Regents. In his issuance letter, President Drake emphasized the importance of a respectful work environment and asked locations to join him in committing to the prevention of abusive conduct in the UC workplace. A newly developed required training is one component of the implementation.
All UCOP employees will receive an email notification later this week from the UC Learning Center and must complete the training within 90 days of receiving the email notification.
The course, which takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, provides an overview of the UC Policy on Abusive Conduct in the Workplace and covers the requirements of the policy. Topics include:
- Overview: What is abusive conduct?
- Prevention: Who is covered? What are your protections?
- Procedures: What happens when there is abuse?
- Resources
The University of California is committed to promoting and maintaining a healthy working environment in which every individual is treated with respect. It’s up to all of us to do our part.
Sincerely,
Nancy L. Pluzdrak, MBA, Ed.D.
