New Employee Orientation
Virtual: June 1, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Oakland: June 13, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Starting a new job or transitioning to a new location can be daunting. The UCOP New Employee Orientation is designed to facilitate your smooth transition to the organization. Topics will include UC and our history, UCOP overview, tools and resources, safety and compliance.

Self-Care for Leaders
June 2, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
We are all leaders in different ways and have an array of unique skills, talents, personalities and passions, but one thing that tends to set them apart from less-successful peers is a sustainable self-care practice. In this course, led by Nicole Williams Browning, Ed.D., participants will learn the essential components of self-care, identify key attributes of each component, learn self-care strategies specific to leaders, and create a plan for implementing sustainable self-care practices.

Excel Pivot Tables
June 7, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In this workshop, you will learn tips and tricks for Excel PivotTables and find out how they can be an invaluable tool in helping you analyze data and present conclusions in compelling ways. If you have been using PivotTables and are wondering what more you can do with them, or if you are running into obstacles and need help getting around them, this workshop is for you. Learn how to unleash the power of PivotTables and get outstanding results!

Zoom Advanced
June 7, 1:30 ­– 3 p.m.
In this course for advanced Zoom users, we’ll cover personal meeting IDs; advanced web portal settings scheduling options, sharing options and annotation; polling; breakout rooms; reporting and cloud recording.

People Leaders Forum: SB 1162
June 9, 1 ­– 2 p.m.
The People Leaders Forum is a monthly opportunity for people managers to connect with one another to develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. In the June session, led by JJ Lerma, we will discuss California Senate Bill 1162 — a new law that requires employers to disclose pay scales on all job postings, as well as that of current employees, upon request. The intent is to ensure that job applicants are aware of the hiring salary range before applying for a position. Join us to learn more about the new law and what it means for you as a manager.

The Science of Managing Stress
June 15, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Job stress can be all-consuming — but it doesn’t have to be. Learn how to identify your triggers, gain perspective, implement coping strategies and know when to seek help.

UCOP Creating Accessible Documents
June 21 & June 28, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
In this two-part training, we will provide you with all the information you need to create accessible Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF documents. In the first session, we will cover the principles of accessibility, then learn how to generate accessible Microsoft Office documents and export them to PDFs. The second session will focus on Adobe Acrobat and how to edit or enhance accessibility within a PDF file. We will be remediating a Word document during session one and a PDF during session two. While sample documents will be provided, please feel free to bring your own documents to practice on. Participants must attend both sessions.

Collaborative Tools for Virtual Meetings
June 22, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn and try tools and techniques to make virtual and hybrid meetings more engaging and collaborative. Come with an open mind and ready to learn new internet-based tools!

Courageous Conversations
June 27, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Whether you’re having a feedback conversation, navigating conflict or just sharing a tough message, knowing how to communicate for impact without damaging relationships is essential. In this workshop, you’ll develop skills to manage your emotions and communicate effectively, especially under pressure. We’ll explore a three-step model of structuring a conversation and useful strategies for opening dialogue. You’ll leave this workshop knowing what to do before, during and after a difficult conversation. Participants will practice real-life examples and get feedback from their peers.
