President Drake approves 2023-24 salary increases for policy-covered employees

The following message was sent to all UCOP staff on July 13, 2023.

Dear UCOP colleagues,

Now that the state legislature has passed a final state budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year, based on UC’s portion of the final budget I am pleased to tell you that President Drake has approved the 2023-24 systemwide salary program which includes a 4.6% salary increase for policy-covered staff and academic appointees at all locations. The regular peer-review merit advancement process for policy-covered academic appointees will continue per academic personnel policy.

Salary increases for union-represented employees and academic appointees are governed separately by the relevant collective bargaining agreements.

This salary program recognizes the extraordinary efforts of employees during this past year, and pay increases will take effect on July 1, 2023, for employees who are paid monthly and June 25 for those who are paid bi-weekly.

Although these salary increases are not performance-based, to be eligible you must have received a performance rating of “solid performance” or higher or “new and learning” (tracking up) on your 2022-2023 performance review, completed required training on or before July 31, and your start date must have been on or before January 3, 2023.

We are working to implement this year’s salary increases as quickly as possible. Our goal is for eligible employees who are paid monthly to see the increase reflected in their August 1 paychecks, and in July 19 paychecks for those who are paid bi-weekly. UCOP division leaders and managers will receive additional implementation details about the 2023-24 salary program from UCOP Human Resources.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your department’s Human Resources business partner.

As always, a very heartfelt thank you for your dedication and all you do for UC and the people we serve.

Sincerely,
Nancy L. Pluzdrak, M.B.A., Ed.D.
Executive Director, UCOP Human Resources
