In support of the “Small Businesses, Big Outcomes” program, and to further their commitment to achieving 25% in project spending with small and disabled veteran business enterprises by 2025, the UC Design and Construction Services team recently organized the inaugural Industry Days networking events.

The UC Industry Day event for Northern California took place at UC Berkeley’s Martin Luther King Jr./ASUC Student Union on Oct. 5, 2023, and the Southern region event was held at The Grand in Long Beach on Oct. 13.

The team was delighted to have strong participation, with approximately 200 attendees at each event, representing various stakeholders from every UC campus and the design and construction communities.

These networking events played a pivotal role in fostering connections and partnerships within the UC community. Professionals from small and large architecture and engineering firms, contractors and consultants from throughout California gained invaluable opportunities to gain deeper insights into design and construction project processes and to explore potential opportunities within UC.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response and enthusiasm from attendees, the Design and Construction team plans to make Industry Day events an annual tradition. They also encourage colleagues at each UC campus to consider hosting similar events within their local communities.
