UCOP launches new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Department website

Our UCOP Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Department is unveiling its new website: ucop.edu/edi.

First, you might notice the name change – from the Office of Workplace Inclusion and Belonging to the EDI Department. Why the change? It’s about the explicit focus and approach to our work:

  • Driving for equity in every decision, policy and practice
  • Seeking, building and leveraging our workforce diversity
  • Practicing inclusion where all individuals can speak up and know they are heard

Belonging is the outcome of a workplace that champions equity, diversity, inclusivity and anti-racism. The name change aligns with our commitment to foster an environment where every team member feels respected, appreciated and valued, and can bring their authentic selves to work.

Now, let’s talk about the new website! Here are some sections you’ll want to check out:

Unified framework: Explore our mission, vision, goals and measures for achieving equity, diversity and inclusion throughout UCOP. Think of it as our roadmap for creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, appreciated and valued.

Make a difference: Find resources, tools and opportunities to contribute to our EDI initiatives. Whether it’s volunteering for a group or committee, attending an EDI town hall or joining and actively participating in our staff organizations, including employee resource groups and affinity groups, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a meaningful impact.

Focus: Explore priority areas, such as the Leading Toward Equity series, EDI town halls and the annual EDI Conference, as UCOP works with our community and partners to center equity, diversity and inclusion in all we do. We’re committed to addressing all facets of diversity and inclusion to ensure no voice goes unheard.

Data: Information isn’t just needed for big decisions – it’s a tool that can be useful for all of us, to inform our day-to-day work, develop strategies and discover connections and meaning. Explore the tools we have and those we are putting in place to track progress toward our EDI goals.

Learn: Education is the foundation of change. Sign up for a thought-provoking course to broaden your understanding of EDI and use what you learn to engage in meaningful conversations with colleagues to advance EDI and anti-racism.

So, what are you waiting for? Head over to the new EDI website and start exploring! Let’s continue building a workplace that celebrates diversity, practices inclusion and drives positive change.

Since the website address has changed, please update any bookmarks or links to the previous Office of Workplace Inclusion and Belonging website. If you have questions about the new website or EDI initiatives, contact the EDI team at edi@ucop.edu.
