UC Health prioritizes patient privacy in health data governance principles
In today’s digital age, where data fuels advancements in health care and medicine, ensuring the responsible use of health data is paramount. It is essential to safeguard patients’ personal information while harnessing the potential of health data to improve treatment outcomes, enhance medical research and ultimately, elevate the quality of care they receive.
UC has been at the forefront of data governance for many years, establishing frameworks to uphold patient privacy, foster transparency and promote ethical data practices. The recent Health Data Governance Task Force Report, published by UC Health, includes five principles focused on upholding ethical standards, promoting equitable access to benefits derived from health data, and prioritizing patients’ interests in data-sharing work.
