New deadline: Build your professional skills and connect

If you’re looking to grow your professional or networking skills this year, don’t miss two impactful professional development cohorts from UCOP Learning and Development that can help you do both!

The deadline for both programs has been extended to Jan. 10, 2025. For questions, contact ucopld@ucop.edu.

UCOP Mentorship Program

Take advantage of this meaningful opportunity to share and learn career skills and leadership practices, guide and navigate the UCOP culture and establish lasting professional relationships. The program’s goal is to create mentor-mentee pairings that provide a supportive structure for UCOP employees to cultivate contacts, explore challenges, and enhance their effectiveness as they grow personally and professionally. Remote and in-person opportunities are available.

  • Participate as a mentee: The mentorship program is open to all employees who have been at UCOP for at least six months. If you’re interested in becoming a mentee, complete the Mentee Application by Jan. 10, 2025. Please note that priority will be given to those who have not previously participated as mentees.
  • Become a mentor: If you’re an experienced UCOP leader or staff member with at least one year of UCOP service, we encourage you to participate as a mentor. This is a rewarding opportunity to share your talents by helping others with their professional and career development. Previous mentees are welcome to participate as mentors. If you’re interested in being a mentor for the 2025 program, please complete the Mentor Interest Form.

UC Peer Connections

This systemwide peer-to-peer networking program aims to enhance employee connection and belonging within UCOP and across the university through meaningful relationships. Participating colleagues will be paired with peers at UCOP and other UC locations, based on their career level, interests and aspirations. They will meet virtually on the Imperative platform, designed to facilitate guided, authentic conversations around career goals. Develop a network of trusted peers while focusing on your growth and impact!

Eligibility and application

To participate in UC Peer Connections, you must:

  • Be employed at UCOP in a full-time career or contract role (represented or non-represented).
  • Discuss the program with your direct manager or supervisor and obtain their support. Participation in this program will take place in addition to your regular work responsibilities.
  • Complete the interest form by Jan. 10, 2025, at 5 p.m. (PT).

Our intent is to select participants on a first-come, first-served basis; however, space is limited and we may select applicants whose departments and roles reflect a representative cross-section of our organization.

Program expectations

If accepted for the program, you will be matched with a peer, with whom you will meet for at least three career-focused conversations. You must agree to:

  • Attend a virtual kick-off event on Jan. 29, 2025, from 2 to 2:30 p.m. (PT).
  • Activate an Imperative account and complete a 15-minute “purpose profile” that articulates your values, aspirations and career drivers.
  • Participate in at least three virtual conversations with your peer on the Imperative platform. Conversations must:
    – Be scheduled by you and your matched peer
    – Be at least one hour long each
    – Take place between February and April 2025

Selected participants will be notified in mid-January. We will manage a waitlist in case of cancellations. Participation in the program is free. The UCOP Learning & Development team will sponsor participants’ licensing fees.
