UC research: Dining out with San Francisco’s coyotes
To help inform and prioritize strategies to protect native coyotes and reduce human-wildlife conflicts, UC Davis scientists have been working to understand what San Francisco coyotes are eating — and how their diet is changed and shaped by the city’s diverse landscapes.
In a new study, they’ve shared how the density of restaurants and “impervious surfaces” (aka pavement) within the city heavily influences what coyotes eat.
