New UC-branded Canva templates are available
If you’re one of the many UCOP staff members who is using Canva Pro through a UCOP Team account, new resources are now available to help you create on-brand designs. Duplicates of the existing Word templates have been created in Canva, allowing for easier and more versatile usage.
New Canva templates
Keep your designs on-brand and beautiful with new templates for common creative needs:
- Event flyers: Choose from two layouts for a flyer that will help make your event stand out.
- Invitations: Design an invitation as a PDF or PNG image file to print and mail, or attach to an email.
- Nametags: Stay on-brand throughout your event! Choose from two layouts, each available in two colors.
- Posters: Our new poster designs include photography or text-only layouts to promote your event.
- Report cover: Make your reports look more professional by using this special branded template.
You can access the brand templates here (Canva log-in required), or from the Canva homepage by selecting Brand > Brand Templates.
New Canva icon sets
If your team uses icons to guide visual focus on digital and printed materials, you’ll love our new designs. Icon categories include:
- Agriculture and Natural Resources
- Information Technology
- Government
- Health
- Human Resources
- Research
- Sports
- Student Life
- Transportation
Access all icon sets here (Canva log-in required), or from the Canva homepage, select Brand > Brand Kits > University of California kit, then scroll down to the icons folder.
Existing Word & PPT templates remain available
If you need fax, memo, Word doc, or PowerPoint presentation templates, they are all still available on the UC Brand Guide website, under templates and assets, or directly via this Box link.
A duplicate of the icon set has also been added to the templates & assets folder.
Note: While Canva is a powerful tool, it isn’t intended to replace word processing or presentation software. We recommend that you use Word, PPT & PDF files when possible since most staff have access to Word, PowerPoint and Acrobat, and are familiar with them. Additionally, Canva lacks some functionality found in these applications.
How can I get help with using Canva?
If you need to create a Canva account or are having trouble accessing your existing account, follow these instructions or contact the ITS Service Desk.
If you’re just getting started with Canva and need help learning the basics, you can find online tutorials on the Canva website. Several classes are also available through Linkedin Learning, which all UCOP employees have unlimited access to. A great place to start is the “Canva Essential Training” course. (Set up your LinkedIn learning account.)
