Donate blood to the Red Cross: Save lives, get free diabetes testing and score a free county fair ticket
Join UCOP colleagues and retirees for Oakland’s first American Red Cross blood drive of the year on Tuesday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Franklin Lobby 1.
Why donate?
- Save lives: The U.S. is experiencing a blood shortage emergency and blood donors are urgently needed now to help ensure patients at hospitals across the country continue to receive critical medical care. It only takes about an hour to participate and your donation could save three lives.
- Get free A1 testing: The Red Cross will conduct Hemoglobin A1C testing on all March 18 donors’ blood. This test measures average blood sugar over the past three months and is a recognized diagnostic test for prediabetes and diabetes. No fasting is needed.
- All May 18 donors will receive a free ticket to the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton.
