Maximize your Excel skills and earn a learning certificate by participating in the UCOP Learning and Development Data Analysis Series. You’ll learn how to use several tools within Microsoft Excel to organize data, present it cohesively and utilize it in decision-making. Classes will build upon each other, building your skills and knowledge over time.

This series runs twice a year, and all four courses are required for the certificate of completion. If you’ve finished any series course within the last two years, it will count towards your certificate. We recommend, but do not require, that you attend the series in order.

Excel Introduction to Data Analysis
Aug. 19 and Aug. 26, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn how to use Excel’s built-in data analysis tools to better understand your records and use them for decision-making purposes. We’ll cover analyzing data in lists and tables, summary-based IF Functions, chart tools, and building and working with PivotTables and PivotCharts.

Excel Advanced Data Analysis
Sept. 17 and Sept. 24, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In this two-part class, we’ll focus on essential advanced Excel skills. Topics will include:

• Working with multiple worksheets and workbooks, sharing and protecting workbooks, and automating workbook functionality, including an introduction to macros and VBA
• Dynamic arrays, including filter, sort by, unique and other functions
• Auditing tools
• Forecasting data, including determining trends, utilizing the analyze data tool,  building forecast sheets and creating sparklines
• Data mapping

Note: Excel Introduction to Data Analysis is a prerequisite for this course.
