UCOP Safety: Active Attacker Training
Dec. 2, 1 – 2 p.m.
This live virtual class will teach you skills and strategies to respond if you’re exposed to an active-attacker situation. We’ll review real-life incidents and discuss options in the event of similar encounters.

UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 1: MS Office
Dec. 3, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Digital accessibility ensures that users with disabilities can easily access and engage with digital content. In this course, you will learn the principles of digital accessibility, how to generate accessible Microsoft Office documents and how to export these to PDF. This is the first course in the series and a prerequisite for UCOP Creating Accessible Documents 2: PDFs.

Managing Up: Cultivating a Partnership with Your Manager
Dec 4, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. 
Come explore ways to develop a mutually beneficial working relationship with your supervisor as an individual contributor. We will explore how individual contributors can develop trust by exploring their manager’s perspective, advocating for themselves and providing upward feedback.

Communication in the Workforce
Dec 11, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
This engaging and highly rated workshop provides practical tools and techniques to strengthen communication skills in professional settings. This course is part of the UCOP Communication series certificate.

Excel PivotTables Techniques
Dec. 9, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This class will visualize data insights (Charts and KPIs). We will blend data from sources, clean data, explore various views of the data set and create dashboards.

Career Development Tools
Dec. 16, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
UCOP offers various on-demand career development tools available to you at any time. LinkedIn Learning and My UC Career are two tools that you can utilize at any point in your career development journey. We will review their capabilities and how to make the most of their resources. Additionally, come learn best practices for building your story-driven LinkedIn profile and brand.

For people managers

GROW Plus: Accountability Conversations for Managers
Dec. 3, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This is the second part of the required live training series on manager and employee performance conversations. This training answers the question: “What do I do when my coaching is not improving performance?” In this virtual, live and highly interactive workshop, we will cover: providing productive critical feedback, managing emotions, creating efficient documentation and holding effective accountability conversations. Managers will also practice role-playing accountability conversations using the UCOP GROW Plus framework.

People Leader Forum – Team Wellness
Dec. 5, 1 – 2 p.m.
The People Leader Forum is a monthly opportunity for managers to connect to develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. Our Dec. 5 session will focus on team wellness.

ME@UCOP: Recruitment and Onboarding
Dec. 5, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Virtual
Courses in the Manager Essentials at UCOP (ME@UCOP) series are required for all staff who are new to a management or supervisory position. Experienced managers are also welcome to join us. This live, instructor-led session will focus on UCOP talent acquisition and onboarding protocols, including hiring processes; inclusive recruitment in accordance with UC, state and federal policies; and onboarding process, tools and best practices.

Managing Psychologically Safe Teams
Dec. 10, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Research shows that a culture of psychological safety is the top determinant of team success. But what is psychological safety and what power do we have to influence the working conditions of our teams? Join us in this workshop designed for managers as we explore psychological safety and the benefits of incorporating it into your team culture.

Building Habits: Implementing Strategies that Stick
Join us for a compelling two-part webinar that delves deeply into the science of habit formation, offering practical guidance to transform your daily routines. Whether you aim to establish new health habits, boost productivity or foster positive behavioral changes, these sessions are tailored to set you on a successful path.

In the first class, we’ll guide you step-by-step in identifying and implementing a new habit, equipping you with the tools necessary for a transformative journey. The second session will arm you with the knowledge and tools to sustain your process and build resilience.

  • UCOP Mentorship Program: Share and learn career skills and leadership practices, guide and navigate the UCOP culture and establish long-term professional relationships. Apply to be a mentee or apply to be a mentor.
