UCOP Learning and Development has extended the deadline for winter learning cohorts offered in the new calendar year. These group learning opportunities for colleagues at all levels can help you plan and develop your career while building lasting relationships. Take Charge: Developing a Career Strategy

If you’re an administrative, support or entry-level staff member who’s ready to take your career to the next level, check out Take Charge: Developing a Career Strategy. This six-month L&D-sponsored program will give you the tools you need to thrive in the workplace for years to come. You’ll learn how to better manage your career development, expand your professional network, feel more job satisfaction and improve your relationship with your manager. This virtual program meets for one or two hours every other Thursday, from Jan. 25 – June 13, 2026 (11 sessions). For more information, review the FAQ. Apply for Take Charge by Dec. 12.

Making Power Moves

The President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (PACSW),  in partnership with the Human Resources Learning and Development team, is once again pleased to sponsor the popular course, Making Power Moves: a cohort focused on career advancement strategies with an emphasis on how social and cultural factors influence professional growth and leadership opportunities. This course is designed expressly for staff who manage projects or people, and sessions reflect our unique UCOP environment and culture.  This course has consistently received overwhelmingly positive feedback and has yielded excellent outcomes for past participants. Boost your professional development and career goals in the new year! Sessions take place every Thursday, Jan. 4 – March 19, from 3 – 6 p.m. (PT) via Zoom and space is limited to 22 participants. Check out the frequently asked questions and course syllabus . Apply for Making Power Moves by Dec. 12.  

UC Peer Connections Cycle 2

UC Peer Connections is a self-driven UC peer-to-peer networking program that aims to enhance employee connection and belonging within UCOP and across the system through meaningful relationships. Participants activate an Imperative account and complete a 15-minute “Purpose Profile” that articulates their values, aspirations and career drivers. Based on these profiles, they’re matched with a peer at UCOP or another UC location, with whom they will schedule and participate in three one-hour virtual conversations between Jan. 13 to Feb. 27, 2026. Participants will meet on the Imperative Platform, where they will engage in private (not recorded) guided discussions and plan career-related aspirations. Learn more by reviewing the program overview. Complete the short UC Peer Connections application by Friday, Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. (PT). Staff who have previously participated in the program must complete a new application. Participants’ licensing fees are sponsored by UCOP Learning & Development.
