California is already feeling the effects of climate change, but UC researchers are helping the Golden State meet the moment with bold, practical solutions.

A new UC Newsroom story highlights how the $100 million UC-led Climate Action Initiative is turning ideas into action across California. The effort now includes 53 projects in every region of the state, bringing together UC campuses, California State University campuses, private universities, tribes, community organizations, industry partners and public agencies.

The projects are as wide-ranging as the challenges California faces — helping farmers adapt to climate stress, supporting firefighter health, improving access to water testing, strengthening Tribal stewardship of Sierra Nevada pinyon woodlands and advancing Indigenous-led land stewardship in Southern California.

Together, these efforts show the power of UC research and community partnerships to build a healthier, more resilient climate future for California.
