After surviving melanoma, thyroid cancer and prostate cancer, longtime UC San Diego surf team coach Tyler Callaway says he feels lucky — especially for the care he received at Moores Cancer Center.

His treatment helped him return to surfing, and he now shares his experience with fellow cancer survivors through a surf team called Thrivers. He also helps lead Legends of Science and Surfing, an annual benefit that has raised more than $15 million for cancer research.

Callaway recently shared how the care and research at UC San Diego Health have shaped his life and inspired him to support others.
