Managers’ Corner: Unlock your team’s potential with targeted training and development

UCOP is committed to nurturing talent and fostering growth for individuals and teams. To ensure that your team reaches its full potential, we offer a range of training and developmental support services through a collaborative effort between Learning and Development and Organizational Development.

What we offer

Whether you’re seeking facilitated team development activities, general consultation, HR reports or assistance with managing change, we’ve got you covered. Our areas of support include:

  • Facilitated team development activities: From icebreakers to creating team agreements, these activities are guided opportunities to connect team members at meetings, retreats and events.
  • HR reports: Request recruiting, STEP and general HR data.
  • Managing change: We can help lead your team through a change project or organizational transition with a planning strategy that focuses on the process and the people.
  • Learning and Development overview presentation: Schedule a 30-min presentation on Learning and Development opportunities for your team, including classes, certificates, series, cohorts, LinkedIn Learning and other resources.
  • Organizational assessment: Transform your team from good to excellent! Our assessment process reviews your operations, environment, leadership, and structure to identify opportunities and strengths.
  • Team planning and goal setting: Focus your team’s efforts by painting a clear picture of where you are going, supporting your pursuit of excellence and ensuring that all stakeholders are working toward the same goals. This planning process typically involves analyzing your team’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, then developing a plan of action.
  • Training request for department: Schedule a course to be delivered to your team. Eligible classes include STEP and GROW trainings, and Subtle Acts of Exclusion. Have a specific topic in mind? Submit a request to discuss the possibilities. (Please note that classes provided by non-UCOP facilitators may incur a cost.)
  • UC Learning Center: Upload a course or add a training to the UC Learning Center (UCLC) or LinkedIn Learning for easy team access.
  • General consultation: If you’d like help supporting your team but aren’t sure what’s best for your situation, submit a request with your questions or situation, and we’ll meet to discuss options.

What to expect

Once your request is received, a member of our dedicated team will reach out to schedule a consultation meeting. This personalized approach allows us to understand your requirements and tailor our support to address your unique challenges and goals.
