FSAP to host workshop on understanding menopause

Jessica Allanson, Ph.D., M.A., is a licensed clinical psychologist with the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program at UCSF.
Menopause is a transition that about half of the population will experience in their lifetime, and which impacts nearly all aspects of an individual’s health and well-being. And while menopause has received more coverage in recent years, many people still don’t understand this experience and may be reluctant to discuss it.
On Aug. 27, from 12 – 1 p.m., join the UCOP/UCSF Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) for a special event — Let’s Talk about Menopause: Understanding Menopause and Finding Support. This informational webinar will provide information and resources for all things menopause, from preparation to experiencing it, transitioning out of it and finding support.
Topics will include menopause basics, current menopause research and the impact of misinformation. We’ll also share resources for people who are:
- Curious about menopause
- Feeling isolated in menopausal experiences
- Balancing physical and psychological reactions related to menopause
- Navigating complex post-menopausal experiences
- Trying to help loved ones
The experience of figuring out what we or someone we love needs in times of stress can be difficult, and sometimes the best place to start is somewhere. So let’s start by talking about it.
