David Lane has joined the leadership team for UCOP’s Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services. He takes the role of systemwide deputy compliance officer, succeeding Lynda Hilliard, who retired last November.

Lane, who joined OP on Jan. 1, will assist Chief Compliance and Audit Officer Sheryl Vacca in developing, implementing and evaluating the Systemwide UC Ethics and Compliance Program Plan. He will also lead and oversee the Presidential Policy Management System and provide leadership for the systemwide privacy function.

Prior to joining UC, Lane served as chief compliance and privacy officer at Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. His past work experience includes serving as research associate and assistant professor at Florida State University and Missouri State University as well as associate professor at Oklahoma State University in Applied Behavioral Studies in Education.

Lane held various positions with the Oregon Health Division in the areas of health and outreach education and was bureau director for neighborhood involvement compliance for the City of Portland.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Olaf College and a doctorate in educational psychology from Florida State University.
