April, in addition to being Earth Month, is also International Records Management and Information Month.

To mark the occasion, UCOP’s Records Management Committee is once again sponsoring a non-records purge week recycling drive from April 18 to 22, with the goal of “D-TOKs-ing” OP of unnecessary non-record materials.

Last year employees recycled 8,123 pounds of paper in the non-records purge. That’s almost 5,000 pounds more than 2014 and the equivalent of more than 30 four-drawer lateral filing cabinets!

Events will include Open Forums to help you with any of your records questions:

• Wednesday, April 20 at 1-2 p.m. in Franklin 5320

Recycling bins will be placed in all UCOP Oakland locations throughout the week.

“Non-records” are materials of immediate value only that are not maintained as administrative records. They include things like data entry sheets, rough drafts, multiple copies of publications, blank forms and all manner of things that are not subject to record retention guidelines.
