Annual surveys once again show high levels of satisfaction with UC-sponsored health plans
Systemwide Human Resources monitors UC’s benefits programs carefully to ensure faculty, staff and retirees are well-served by their health plans and providers. The annual medical plans satisfaction survey, conducted by the independent survey research firm DSS Research Group, is an important part of this effort. Once again, participants reported high levels of satisfaction with UC-sponsored health plans.
As you make your Open Enrollment choices, take a moment to review the feedback shared by UC’s faculty, staff and retirees about their experiences with their health plans in 2017.
UC-sponsored non-Medicare plans
The survey of almost 6,000 employees and retirees conducted in spring of 2018 found the following levels of satisfaction with respondents’ overall health plan and overall health care:
Plan | Health plan | Health care |
Health Net Blue & Gold | 88% | 92% |
Kaiser Permanente | 95% | 94% |
UC Care | 83% | 92% |
UC Health Savings Plan | 80% | 93% |
Western Health Advantage | 93% | 95% |
The survey also looked at enrollees’ satisfaction with their access to care (including appointments with specialists) and customer service.
UC-sponsored Medicare plans
A separate survey was completed by over 1,200 retirees in UC-sponsored Medicare plans, with the following levels of satisfaction with their overall health plan and overall health care:
Plan | Health plan | Health care |
Health Net Seniority Plus | 91% | 90% |
Kaiser Senior Advantage | 96% | 95% |
UC Medicare PPO/High Option Supplement | 94% | 96% |
These high levels of satisfaction exceed the national averages (according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) of 90 percent for satisfaction with health plans and 89 percent for satisfaction with overall health care.
