New security product for UCOP computers – no action required
As our dependency and reliance on technology grow amid increasing remote work, cyber threats are also increasing. To detect advanced security threats, as well as to address security incidents, UCOP’s IT security team is using a solution called FireEye.
FireEye is an integrated suite of tools that detects, prevents and responds effectively to known malware (computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, etc.).
FireEye HX Deployment
For people on Win10 computers supported by Local IT Client Services and UCPath Center ITSS, the planned rollout is scheduled to begin on April 5, 2021. It will be installed silently, much like our security patch installs, and there is no action required on your part.
Once installed, the software will run in the background to detect any known or possible malware. While FireEye HX scans the computer in real-time, our testing groups did not experience any performance issues.
Supported macOS computers will receive the software at a later time. Please be on the lookout for a follow-up email regarding scheduling.
Please refer to the FireEye FAQ for more information. You may also contact the Service Desk at (510) 987-0457.
