UC Davis firefighters fight blazes around Northern California
Since the start of July, UC Davis Fire Department’s Brush Truck 34 has traveled throughout Northern California to fight some of the state’s largest-ever wildfires alongside local and state fire officials. They’ve tackled the Salt Fire in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the River Fire in Mariposa County, the Tamarak Fire along the California-Nevada border and the Dixie Fire in Butte and Plumas counties.
On July 22, Fire Chief Nathan Trauernicht shared this viral tweet with real-time footage of the crew’s process:
Heart stopping video from our @UCDavisFire crew inside the cab of Brush 34 on the #TamarakFire as they worked to protect a housing development last night. I am so incredibly proud of the bravery of our @ucdavis firefighters as they help protect our state! @Chancellor_May @Cal_OES pic.twitter.com/iUkpk3L698
