President Drake approves 2023-24 salary increases

The following message was sent to all UCOP employees on April 26, 2023:

Dear UCOP colleagues,

I am pleased to tell you that President Drake has approved, contingent on final state funding, the 2023-24 systemwide salary program which includes a 4.6% salary increase for policy-covered staff and academic appointees at all locations. Please note that these salary increases are contingent upon UC receiving the 5% funding increase in the governor’s current proposed state budget, which has not yet been finalized, and are subject to change. In the event current budget expectations change, we will provide updated information.

For policy-covered staff, there will be a general 4.6% base salary increase that will take effect on July 1, 2023. Policy-covered academic appointees will also receive increases, and the regular peer-review merit advancement process for policy-covered academic appointees will continue per academic personnel policy. Salary increases for union-represented employees and academic appointees are governed by the relevant collective bargaining agreements.

Although these salary increases are not performance-based, in order to be eligible employees must have received a performance rating of “solid performance” or higher on their 2022-2023 performance review, and their start date must have been on or before December 31, 2022.

UCOP division leaders and managers will receive additional implementation details about the 2023-24 salary program from UCOP Human Resources.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your department’s Human Resources business partner.

As always, thank you very much for your many contributions and dedication to UC and the people we serve.

Sincerely,
Nancy L. Pluzdrak, MBA, Ed.D.
Executive Director, UCOP Human Resources

Have Something To Say ?

    Good afternoon,
I have been asked why the start date for UCOP employees is different from other locations to be eligible for ATB increase? UCSF published the start date must be before 1/9/2023.
    Thank you

Hi Kathy, thanks for your comment. From a systemwide perspective, an employee needs to have been on active status as a UC employee for at least six months prior to the effective date of the increase, which would be as of Dec. 31, 2022. Locations had the option to determine their cutoff date, most of which are either Dec. 31, 2022 or Jan. 3, 2023. UCOP chose Jan. 3, 2023, as its cutoff date. We are not privy to other locations’ decisions to choose later dates. For additional questions, please contact your HR business partner.
