University of California President Michael V. Drake, M.D., has selected Meredith Vivian Turner to be the senior vice president of External Relations and Communications at UCOP.

Meredith was selected after a competitive national recruitment process and will assume the role on an interim basis for one year or until the appointment of a permanent senior vice president.

Silva is a communications leader with extensive experience in government, politics and the nonprofit sector.
