Windows 10 and Office 2016 are coming your way

With the scheduled retirement of Windows 7 and Office 2010, IT Client Services will be upgrading all UCOP-issued Windows computers to Windows 10 and Office 2016. This upgrade project is expected to last two years and will include the following additional activities:

  • Replacement of laptops and desktops that are not compatible with the Windows 10 operating system
  • Removal of the MyCloud desktop with continued access to applications dependent on that environment
  • Migration of all “P” drive data to Box after the completion of the Windows 10 upgrade project

Next steps

  • IT Client Services staff will be meeting with individual departments to review and confirm the overall plan and to outline detailed steps needed to ensure a smooth transition.
  • New and replacement computers issued at UCOP from here on will feature Windows 10 and Office 2016.
  • All newly hired staff will have a Box account set up for storage instead of a “P” drive.
