UC Learning Center registration update
With the recent upgrade of the UC Learning Center (UCLC), users are still learning to navigate the new system and exploring new features. One of the many enhancements to the new system is the search and registration features. With the upgrade of these new features, some changes have been made to the registration process to ensure maximum capacity in each class offered.
Prior to the update employees could register for as many classes as they wanted from the day the registrations opened. This led to most classes filling up immediately. Staff managing the UCLC noticed the number of last-minute cancellations and no-shows increased. Upon further research they found many employees forgot they had registered for the classes months ahead of time.
This has led to a new staggered registration process with the hope of reducing no-shows and including more students in each class. On the current class schedules, you will notice each class will now include a “Registration Open” day approximately one month before the course date. If you search for a course that is not open for registration, you will find an “Express Interest” option. By entering your information in this window, you will be notified when the registration opens. In addition, you can add your name to an “Express Interest” list for courses that are not currently scheduled. If enough interest can be generated, a course can be offered. This feature was not available in the old system, and the UCLC staff hopes this helps to alleviate some of the above-mentioned concerns and make more classes available to more people.
The redesigned site has many other enhancements:
New Quick Links to most-used features
Check on your upcoming classes or cancel a registration, search required trainings, and download transcripts and certificates.
New Quick Search and Register options
A robust search function helps you find the classes you’re looking for.
Quick access to all available sessions
The new interface allows you to register for classes or express interest in a class if it’s not currently offered.
UCLC is a resource for all UC staff, providing access to both required training and elective professional development opportunities through online classes and registration for classroom courses.
