Warriors victory parade set for Tuesday, June 12 in downtown Oakland

To celebrate another NBA championship win, the city of Oakland is hosting a victory parade for the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, June 12. The event will significantly impact UCOP staff who work in downtown Oakland due to extensive street closures, increased use of public transit and the large number of pedestrians in the area.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway and 11th Street, and will end at Oak and 13th streets.

Some downtown Oakland streets will be closed beginning this afternoon to prepare for the event. On Tuesday, many streets near UCOP offices will be closed beginning at 3 a.m. and will remain closed into the evening.

Details about street closures as well as the parade route and mass transit options are available on the city’s parade website.

At this time, we expect to offer UCOP staff normal access to our Oakland buildings and garages on Tuesday. If that changes, we will notify all staff via email.

Please speak to your supervisor if you would prefer to telecommute on Tuesday.
