For managers: Learn best practices for successful employee onboarding

If you manage people, make sure you’re taking advantage of UCOP’s People Leaders Forums. These interactive sessions are a monthly opportunity for you to build a network with your peers while developing leadership skills, sharing best practices, swapping strategies for navigating challenges and learning to better support yourself and your team!

August 12: Onboarding

Next month’s session, taking place Aug. 12 from 1 – 2 p.m. (PT) will focus on employee onboarding and will feature Merideth Wakeman, project manager for organizational design and development, as the guest speaker.

Employee engagement and retention are more critical now more than ever, and a strong onboarding program ensures a positive start for new employees. According to a 2021 study by Sapling HR, a positive employee onboarding experience increases the likelihood of retaining that person in the near future by 82%!

Merideth will discuss the two key facets of onboarding:

  • Provisioning — meeting an employee’s physical requirements and equipment
  • Warm welcome — fostering interpersonal relationships and connections

Following her presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to share their own best practices and challenges for discussion.
