Reminder: Take the STEP survey today!
In 2020, UCOP launched the Staff Talent Evaluation Process (STEP), which includes ePerformance, an integrated system that’s accessible within UCPath.
We want to hear from you about how it’s going
Take a survey to provide your feedback. The brief survey will help us understand what’s going well and what could be improved. Your responses are anonymous and will only be reported in aggregate. Please take 15 minutes to complete the STEP survey by Tuesday, Nov. 1:
Share your feedback in the STEP Survey
Information gathered from the survey will be used to inform the STEP process, training, support and communication. Since the ePerformance platform is used by several campuses, suggestions for system improvements will be given to UCPath for consideration. We will share the survey results in a future Link article.
If you cannot access the survey, or have other questions, email STEP@ucop.edu.
About STEP
Who helped develop STEP?
UCOP employees and leaders played a major role in the development of STEP. Beginning in early 2019, a cross-divisional team of UCOP colleagues conducted best-practice research and gathered feedback from leaders and employees on what they would like to see in an updated performance appraisal process. Employees sought more consistent feedback from managers, and managers wanted more flexibility and a simpler process. All agreed that it was important for the process to be meaningful and support enhanced performance.
What is the purpose of STEP?
STEP was designed to better support employees and managers in setting goals, managing performance and achieving organizational goals:
- User-Friendly: Technology platform with better tracking and interface with PeopleSoft (UCPath)
- Employee-Focused: More frequent check-ins with manager feedback and two-way discussions that are designed to take place during standard one-on-one meetings
- Streamlined: Less redundancy in the narrative sections and targeted competency section
- Flexible: Ability to write goals that work best in each department or role and to choose competencies that are most reflective of the job being performed
