Rachael Nava invites staff to join President Drake and UCOP leaders for a strategic framework Zoom event

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rachael Nava sent the following message to all UCOP staff on Wednesday, June 7, 2023:
Dear UCOP Colleagues:
As was mentioned in Link, President Drake and division leaders have developed an updated strategic framework for the UC Office of the President.
We will be holding a Zoom event on June 21 with President Drake, Provost Katherine Newman, Chief Financial Officer Nathan Brostrom, and myself, to discuss what the framework means for our work and answer questions about it. Here are the details, and I hope you’ll be able to attend:

About the updated framework
The refreshed framework outlines five strategic objectives that will inform all division-level goals and guide our collective work:
- Strengthen an inclusive UC workforce and community
- Expand opportunities in learning and research
- Support a prosperous, resilient, and healthy California
- Develop and maintain sustainable financial models
- Deliver operational service excellence
The updated framework is the result of an extensive process of thoughtful discussions among UCOP division leaders, and conversations with staff representatives and campus stakeholders. You may find more information about the framework in this FAQ.
Some of you may recall we first launched the framework in 2019. UCOP has seen many changes in the last four years — new leadership, new priorities and initiatives, a new multi-year state funding agreement, a shift to operating as a hybrid organization, and a strengthened commitment to being a more equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace — to name just a few. Given these changes, it was important to update the framework and to refine the core principles underlying our work.
