New Fig. 1 video: Astronaut Jose Hernandez’s cancer-fighting invention
José M. Hernández is best known for his remarkable journey from a migrant farmworker to a NASA astronaut — and his story takes center stage in the new film ‘A Million Miles Away,’ now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Despite this achievement, he is most proud of his work at @LivermoreLab where he co-invented the first full-field digital mammography system, revolutionizing breast cancer detection. Today, as a proud alum of UC Santa Barbara and a UC Regent, José is passionately committed to expanding the STEM pipeline into UC, so that any student can achieve what he did.
