Required training on workplace violence prevention due by Dec. 20, 2024
The following message was sent to all UCOP employees by Interim Chief Human Resources Officer Patricia L. Hardaway on Tuesday, Nov. 19:
Dear Colleagues,
California Senate Bill Nov. 553 requires employers to provide employees with training on their workplace violence prevention plan. The goal of the training is to help members of the UC community understand and report workplace violence and recognize and respond to escalating behavior.
The University of California Workplace Violence Prevention training for all staff launches on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024. After completing this training, you should be able to:
- Define workplace violence under California state law
- Be familiar with the elements of the Workplace Violence Prevention program at your location
- Report incidents of workplace violence through appropriate channels
- Access resources and services at your location for additional assistance and training
This 20-minute training will be assigned to all UCOP employees on Nov. 20, 2024. It will automatically appear in the UC Learning Center “required training” module, and you will have until Dec. 20, 2024 (30 days) to complete it. You must finish the training by Dec. 20.
You are welcome to contact the Local Workplace Violence Prevention Team at wvplocalteam@ucop.edu with any questions about the training requirement or content.
If you need help accessing the training, please contact the UCOP Learning and Development team at ucopld@ucop.edu.
The UCOP Human Resources Workplace Violence Prevention page provides additional information regarding the statute’s background, purpose, scope and key reminders.
In all things, excellence!
