Process your feelings at a 3Practice Support Circle this Thursday via Zoom

Past APISA Chair Tony Yang and Ombudsperson Callale Concon will lead 3Practice Support Circles for UCOP staff.
A chaotic start to the new year in both national and worldwide events has left many of us feeling as though we could use a friendly ear and a safe space to share our feelings.
To help support the UCOP community during this time, APISA is hosting two 3Practice Support Circles on March 6 and March 19. Facilitated by APISA Past Chair Tony Yang and UCOP Ombudsperson Callale Concon, this virtual event will give participating colleagues an opportunity to share their current feelings and challenges.
How does the 3Practice Support Circle Work?
We start by asking questions like “Are you OK?” or “What do you do about your anger?”
A volunteer takes two minutes to share their response. Then, the rest of the participants draw out that person’s story, with phrases like, “I’d be curious to know what happened next,” “I’d be curious to know what you think that means,” and “I’d be curious to know if there are others who are walking with you through this.”
All experiences within the circle seek to deepen connections between colleagues while practicing empathy and learning more about each other’s experiences. We do not judge others or measure their experiences about our own.
Where does the term 3Practice Support Circle come from?
3Practice Support Circles make space to express brokenness, anger, injury, abandonment, loss or hope deferred. They pick up on a theme from Ernest Hemingway’s “A Farewell to Arms” in which he wrote: “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.”
