Microlearning: Learn to showcase and document your work in less than 15 minutes
Great work speaks for itself… right?
Unfortunately, not always. In busy workplaces, impact can easily go unnoticed unless it’s clearly documented and intentionally shared. Learning how to document and showcase your work is not just about self-promotion; it also drives clarity, alignment and growth between you and your team. Additionally, clear documentation practices forge a shared reality with your manager on your work and expectations. This reduces friction, confusion and priorities slipping through the cracks.
When you consistently track your contributions, you:
- Make STEP check-ins easier and more accurate
- Help your manager advocate for you
- Spot patterns in your strengths and growth areas
- Reduce stress when asked, “Where are you at on your STEP goals?”
- Build a strong foundation for promotions and new opportunities
If it’s not documented, it’s easy to forget. If it’s not shared, it’s hard to value. To get started with improving your documentation and streamlining your 1:1s:
- First, watch a short video (less than 15-minutes) — the first in a new microlearning series from UCOP Learning and Development
- Then, check out our 1:1 template examples for inspiration.
