Managers’ Corner: Here’s what you need to know about required ME@UCOP training in 2026
UCOP Learning and Development has just announced 2026 programming for the Manager Essentials at UCOP, AKA ME@UCOP learning cohort, a required course series for managers and supervisors who are new to UCOP management (those who have assumed their roles within the past three years).
What is ME@UCOP
ME@UCOP is a training series that helps UCOP people managers learn essential UCOP processes, policies, competencies and leadership philosophies, while building community and connection with their peers.
Managers have one year to complete the series of seven courses. Some courses must be taken in a specific sequence, while others can be completed in any order.
Courses are offered four times throughout the year and will be listed under the Required Training icon on your UC Learning homepage. These courses are highly interactive — they require participation and attendance for the entire session.
What courses are included in ME@UCOP
Asterisks indicate courses that must be completed in sequential order.
- Compensation and Recruitment Series*
1. Compensation (3.5 hrs)
2. Recruitment and Onboarding (3 hrs) - GROWing your Employee Check-In Conversations Series*
1. GROWing Your Check-in Conversations: Coaching and Developing Employees (2 hrs)
2. GROW Plus: Accountability Conversations (2.5 hrs) - Non-sequential courses
• Managing in the Modern Workplace (6.5 hrs)
• Employee Law and Leaves Accommodations (2.5 hrs)
• Budget and Business Resource Center (1 hr)
What have past participants said?
We have held two successful pilot cohorts. Here’s some of the feedback so far:
- “The content was great and helped us to realize that we have a support system.”
- “Sessions were well-facilitated. The opportunities to engage in breakout rooms really helped us to feel connected, even though we were meeting via Zoom! These four sessions packed a punch — the resources were invaluable.”
- “I learned a lot and I felt like I had a safe space to learn and share. I highly recommend it.”
