Comments on compensation policy due March 26
The University of California is proposing revisions to two staff policies and has invited comments from employees.
In late 2014, the university circulated proposed revisions to PPSM 30, Compensation, which applies to staff employees in the Professional & Support Staff and Managers & Senior Professionals personnel groups. Since that time, additional revisions to the policy have been proposed, so the university is now distributing an updated draft for review.
The additional revisions are intended to clarify policy language and establish the university’s commitment to meeting minimum wage provisions.
UCOP employees covered by this policy who wish to provide comments on the proposed revisions may submit them to Michael Lum by Thursday, March 26.
Staff personnel records policy changes
The university is also proposing revisions to PPSM 80, Staff Personnel Records, a policy that applies to staff employees in the Professional & Support Staff, Managers & Senior Professionals, and Senior Management Group.
Those revisions, intended to clarify policy language and to reflect record-keeping in the electronic age, include:
- A definition of personnel records in any format
- The expansion of criteria for records not to be released to the public
- The addition of a new section regarding access to records by governmental agencies
- The designation, when an employee transfers from one UC location to another, of the new location as the office of record

Employees covered by this policy who wish to provide comments on the proposed revisions may submit them to John Fox, executive director of local human resources, by 5 p.m., April 14, 2015.
