New Oakland furniture on display beginning June 13
The new Oakland building is coming along quickly, and one of the many important steps is selecting the new furniture vendor. The Building and Administrative Services (BASC) team has been hard at work seeking high-amenity furniture at a reasonable rate. Now that results from the RFP are in, UCOP staff are invited to view furniture samples and information from each of the two vendors’ proposals.
Where and when can I view the displays?
The installations are located in Lobby 2 of the Franklin building. Beginning this Thursday, June 13, employees are welcome to view the furniture Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
What do the installations entail?
Each vendor will show multiple furniture samples for cubes, enclosed offices, collaboration and conference rooms. Alongside this will be information about the consolidation project goals and improvements to the working environment at UCOP.
What qualities did BASC look for when selecting these furniture vendors?
BASC’s goal is to create spaces that inspire, are inclusive, encourage employees to flourish and support a happier and healthier workforce. To meet this aim, the new workspaces consider light, comfort, movement, sound, community and other important factors.
BASC selected vendors that provided a cost-effective solution while integrating workspace best practices. Both vendors offer:
- Refreshed, renewed workspaces
- A focus on ergonomics best practices and employee wellness
- Flexibility for different working styles
- Technology capabilities
How can I provide my feedback?
After viewing the furniture, staff will be invited to provide feedback regarding the vendors and project via an online questionnaire.

is it possible for photos of the furniture to be taken for viewing for those who can’t make it to Franklin during the hours posted?
Hi Marisa, We’ve just learned that there will be online furniture presentations. I’ll update this comment once I have more information about when they will be available. We will also share the details in an upcoming issue of Link.
Hello Michelle,
I wanted to check and see if there was an update to when the online link for the furniture at Franklin will be available.
Thank You
Hi Diana,
The furniture presentations are all saved in this Box folder. (To navigate to this folder directly, log into Box, then go to 1100 Broadway Public > Furniture)
