Build stronger connections at work with courses on SEL and DEI
Developing an emotional understanding of your colleagues — and demonstrating respect for their skills, preferences, backgrounds, experiences and other elements of diversity — is key to building and working as a high-functioning team.
UCOP offers several workshops and resources focused on social-emotional learning (SEL) — the process through which we acquire and apply knowledge, skills and attitudes around emotional awareness. This includes developing healthy identities, managing emotions, achieving personal and collective goals, developing and demonstrating empathy, establishing and maintaining healthy relationships and making responsible and caring decisions. Many courses also offer opportunities for a deep exploration of diversity, equity and inclusion principles — key to creating an anti-racist, equitable workplace.

Driving Inclusion in the Hybrid Work Environment
May 11, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Many of the initiatives that organizations take to drive diversity, equity and inclusion are designed for a pre-pandemic, on-site workforce. However, organizations that focus on sustainable strategies that are proven to increase employee inclusion in hybrid work are more successful. This webinar, hosted by Gartner, will review the 44 initiatives identified in Gartner’s Inclusion Index that organizations are taking on to advance DEI in a hybrid work environment.
— Note that registration for this webinar is through Gartner, not the UC Learning Center. If you have not yet created an account, you can do so here by registering with your UCOP email address.

Belonging and Inclusion Toward an Anti-Racist Organization
May 24, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This workshop is an opportunity to deeply explore the application and behaviors of the UCOP Core Competency of Belonging and Inclusion. While not a new concept, the notion of creating inclusive workspaces where each person feels connected and a sense of belonging has increased exponentially with the increasing normalcy of remote engagement and our country’s continued tension around race. In this workshop, you’ll learn relevant facts and concrete examples of change, then explore how to ask the hard questions needed for change.
